Channel Tunnel
Eurotunnel trains run from the UK terminal at Cheriton (Folkestone) to the French terminal at Calais (Frethun). They provide a car transport service, but only take passengers aboard buses; the journey takes about 25 minutes.
Eurostar operate the foot passenger service from the International Passenger Terminal at Ashford, and at London Waterloo. Trains travel directly to Lille, Paris and Brussels and occasionally stops at Frethun near Calais. A new Channel Tunnel Rail line through north Kent, linking London St Pancras with the Channel Tunnel via Stratford, Ebbsfleet and Ashford, is currently under construction for completion by late 2007. This will eventually provide much greater capacity, and a faster service. A new station will open at Ebbsfleet near Dartford with another access point at St Pancras.
